Peyton Manning to Broncos! Goodbye to Tebow next?

March 19, 2012 Leave a comment

According to ESPN, Peyton Manning will most likely sign a 5 year contract with the Denver Broncos. Peyton Manning turns 36 next week putting into question whether or not signing a 5 year deal will be in the Broncos best interests, not to mention the questions about his health.

Peyton Manning could have been the biggest free agent in the history of the NFL, Peyton has thrown for over 54,000 yards and 399 touchdowns over the course of his career, winning the Super Bowl in 2006 at the age of 30.

The signing of Peyton could be the ending of “Tebow Time” in Denver. Tebow led the Broncos to a berth in the playoffs this year, beating the Steelers and then ultimately losing to the Patriots. However, the Broncos had one of the best defenses in the AFC, giving Tebow the opportunity to win several games despite mediocre offensive numbers.

The signing of Peyton puts the Broncos as a favorite to win the AFC West. A future hall of fame quarterback put on a team with several young talent and one of the best defenses in the NFL. WR’s Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas will surely benefit, look for breakout years out of these guys. The AFC West is also a very weak division, giving Peyton a likely trip to the playoffs. Overall, Peyton is a great fit for the Broncos. It will also be interesting to see who the Broncos will target to put a little more talent around Peyton this season.

Colts and Peyton Manning split ways after 14 seasons

Colts released future Hall of Famer, Peyton Manning, after 14 seasons with the team. After their Wednesday press conference where Colts owner, Jim Irsay, nearly broke into tears when discussing the split with Peyton. When asked where he will sign Peyton responded saying he hasn’t even thought about it.

How can you release potentially the greatest quarterback of all time? Peyton built the franchise from his start in 1997, when the Colts went 3-13. Andrew Luck will be taken with the 1st pick and the Colts hope it will be the start of a long career with the team.

Where will Peyton sign? Three teams stand out to me. Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, and Denver Broncos.
