If you don’t get chills after watching this, you probably aren’t from Detroit.

Lin-Sanity

Jeremy Lin has taken the Knicks into playoff contention with a remarkable 8-1 record as a starter. The Knicks are currently sitting in 8th place in the East with a 16-16 record looking for continue this great streak. During the month of Feb. Lin has averaged nearly 23 points and over 8 assists a game throwing aside two former all-stars (Camelo and Amare) in the process.

Lin played four years at Harvard and played last season with Golden State, but saw some bad luck in finding a place to play this season. He’s been with a few teams already this year before signing with the Knicks. The story is truly remarkable and Lin has proven himself for the possibility to stay around the NBA for the long haul.

Detroit Red Wings: NHL Record 21 Straight home wins

Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings on winning their 21st straight home game beating the Dallas Stars 3-1 last night. They are now being mentioned with the 95-96 Chicago Bulls and the undefeated Miami Dolphins, a true accomplishment. It’s a great time to be from Detroit. Next up: Lord Stanley

1. Detroit Red Wings: 7-2-1 last 10 games with All-Star goalie Jimmy Howard coming back in the line up this week

2. NY Rangers: Getting the best goal-tending out of Lundquist in the league. Crushing the east right now, 1st place by 8 points

3. Boston Bruins: On top of the Northeast Division, won’t be touched in the division. Needs to get hot before the playoffs

4. Vancouver Canucks: Sedin line numbers have been down but they are getting a team effort from all four lines

5. Pittsburgh Penguins: Malkin is a on a tear. 7-2-1 the last 10, seems like they won’t have Crosby for the long-run though

6. St. Louis Blues: NHL’s surprise team of the year has continued the winning. DET has gotten the headlines with their home record, but STL has been outstanding at home too

7. Nashville Predators: One of the hottest team in the NHL right now, passing the Blues in the standings, can they finish strong? Lost three straight.

8. Philadelphia Flyers: Very cold lately, 4-3-3 last 10. Need more consistent goal-tending out of Bryzgalov

9. San Jose Sharks: Looks more and more everyday that the Sharks will win the Pacific Division, will be tough come playoff time

10. Phoenix Coyotes: Have won 5 straight looking to stay in the playoff picture

Way to Early Heisman Leaders

February 6, 2012 Leave a comment

Not even two months ago, Robert Griffin Jr. won the Heisman in one of the closest races in recent memory. The Heisman is always so hard to predict as many gave Andrew Luck the Heisman when he announced he was returning for another season a year ago. Below are my favorites to take it home next year:

1. Matt Barkley, USC: Threw for 3,528 yards last year and 39 touchdowns. USC will be in everybody’s preseason top 5’s. Robert Woods and Marquise Lee could be the best WR duo in all of college football

2. Tyrann Mathieu, LSU: As a sophomore last year made big play after big play. Return against Georgia in the SEC Championship proved to knock GA out of the game

3. Montee Ball, Wisconsin: Scored 39 TDs last season nearly breaking Barry Sanders record. Loses a few OL which could prevent him from coming close to those numbers next year

4. Tajh Boyd, Clemson: 33 Pass TDs last season. Has one of the best WR in the country to throw to in Sammy Watkins

5. Landry Jones, Oklahoma: Three year starter at QB, thrown for over 26 TDs each of his three years.

6. Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina: If Lattimore can stay healthy, he will put up some huge numbers and will  be in New York for the ceremony

7. Denard Robinson, Michigan: Best dual threat QB in the country, will put up numbers but as the season goes on, numbers have slumped the last two years. Made too many mistakes last year and Devin Gardner replaced him in a few games

8. Aaron Murray, Georgia: 35 TDs as a Sophomore, if he builds on that he will be in the Heisman talk come December

9. Tyler Wilson, Arkansas: Took over for Ryan Mallet and the Arkansas offense didn’t skip a beat. Hit over 63% of his passes last season

10. Geno Smith, West Virginia: Threw for 463 yards against LSU, impressive task. Two-year starter, offensive pass heavy system will help
